Members

The Judicial Nominating Commission is composed of:

A) non-voting chairperson who is a current Kansas Supreme Court Justice and is chosen by the Chief Justice. The current chair is Justice Larkin Walsh.

B) Seven non-lawyers, each appointed by one of the seven county commissioners:

  • Janine L. Estrada-Lopez
  • Stephene A. Moore
  • Haile K. Sims
  • Damon K. Stelting
  • Stacey Knoell
  • To Be Appointed

    • C) Seven lawyers, each elected by a vote of all Kansas-licensed lawyers residing in Johnson County:

  • Thomas J. Bath Jr.
  • Judge Timothy P. McCarthy
  • Laura McConwell
  • Judge Kevin Moriarty
  • Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan
  • Merritt B. Watson
  • Scott A. Wissel

    • The 14 voting members of the board serve 4-year terms and may continue consecutive terms if so appointed or elected.
